I don't believe society should have to learn a new language just to understand my art - Sue Smith
It's all about getting the colors right - Karl Benjamin
I want to see and make art that might not be flawlessly perfect (because machines are now doing that) but is much more humane, because it's made by the living - and so stands a chance of becoming a living work of art that will speak to future generations - Patrick Gracewood
My paintings all have stories to tell, although the stories are often best told as if heard indistinctly and half remembered; I love to know the tale my viewers actually spun for themeselves when seeing my work. - Margaret (Maggie) Sloan
I will paint it fresh each time, from scratch, and in the spirit of today - not yesterday, and certainly not guessing about tomorrow. - Susan G. Holland

I am 65 and so very grateful to be here with a smile and my story,my journey,It is,after all,the only truly unique thing about my work.I try to capture what is common to us all.

Art is story telling. What happens to that little girl who goes into the woods? Or that boy who finds a magic plow? My paintings all have stories to tell, although the stories are often best told as if heard indistinctly and half remembered; I love to know the tale my viewers actually spun for themeselves when seeing my work.

You said, "I don't believe society should have to learn a new language just to understand my painting." That is a gold quote, Sue. I think it's a manifesto. - Casey Klahn
