We too live in a Regionalist zone, and pay no attention to it. As lifelong artists, my wife and I decided two years ago to launch a teaching website, www.theartistsroad.net, to encourage people, (mostly middle-aged) to try painting, and give them the knowledge and info to do so. Sometimes we feel we must get permission to do what we already desire. Our hope is that more people will turn toward a positive creative life, and thus make the world a better place.

Sue,
I love the quote attributed to Meyer Baba," Dig in one place." There's great strength in knowing (and loving!) your subject matter so intimately as the back of your hand or the back of your "yard".

Thank you for yet another excellent, thoughtful post. I always wonder if there is a rare alpha-delta-gamma-finearta ray beaming through the atmosphere from your brain/studio/region to mine, because you never cease to hit upon topics that are near and dear to my heart. Great post, and much to think about.
