Having binned a lot of paintings recently that I was really disgruntled with and which had layers and layers of paint added until almost too heavy to lift - I'll rethink next time using some of your very helpful suggestions. thankyou

Susan, Jo-Ann, Sharon and Maggie - you all do such lovely work as it is! Still...it's fun to play with the materials, isn't it?

Maggie

Hi Sue. Thanks for this post. It gave me a boost to push myself in my own art.

Sue, thanks for sharing this process. I usually lightly sand down my "unsuccessful" canvases for re-use but your post will have me considering some of your strategies to experience a different perspective. Your paintings are lovely, even the "befores".

Jo-Ann Sanborn

I have a couple of paintings that I 'm sure can be improved. I'll revisit them with this post in mind.

Thank you, Sue. Doing something new -- with new materials -- or re-using old materials or ideas in new ways is always energizing because you learn something.

It is, after all, all about the learning.

thanks, Lori! Your work is always filled with such creative energy - love it!

Really good blog Sue. We can get trapped in always doing it the old way. I get a very different feeling painting on metal, panels, unstretched and unprimed canvas. Thanks.
