Great comments Sue! I hope that many of your readers take to heart this sound advise.

So right you are! Networking is probably one of the most powerful things you can do. I should probably plan another post titled More and More things you can do. Thanks for the tip. And I like your analogy about it being "Additive, not to mention addictive!"

This is all good advice - and I can vouch for your tips because I'm doing most of those things, and it's working! I would add a #11 - to network with other artists groups - whether it's painting regularly with plein air friends or getting involved in shows and competitions. Through these associations I've learned of selling venues that weren't on my radar. And those associations have led to other opportunities, other collector relationships, other places to show, and so on ... it's all additive, not to mention addictive!

This is a great and very helpful post. I am not yet a professional artist, but I can put several of your points to use now, especially "Create compelling art" and "Create a body of work that tells a story". Thanks.
